Orientation Programme
The Erasmus+ Incoming Orientation Programme at Kilis 7 Aralık University is designed to help students adapt quickly, safely, and smoothly to campus and life in Türkiye. The programme covers registration, course selection (OLA), campus and city guidance, safety, health, and cultural integration.
1) Goals of Orientation
- Complete key first-week procedures after arrival
- Clarify course selection/OLA and academic advising
- Introduce campus facilities, city essentials, transport, and living costs
- Provide guidance on formal steps (address/residence support where needed)
- Activate Buddy System and social integration channels
2) Pre-Arrival – What to Prepare
Recommended before arrival:
Documents
- Passport + copies (ID page and entry stamp)
- Acceptance letter
- Health insurance valid in Türkiye
- 4 biometric photos (may be useful for residence-related steps)
Academic preparation
- Review courses via the Bologna course catalogue
- Prepare your OLA draft with your home university
Accommodation
- Confirm a dorm/flat plan (a temporary first-week stay is recommended)
Travel
- Plan your transfer from Gaziantep Airport to Kilis (bus/shuttle/taxi options)
3) Orientation Week – Sample Schedule (5 Days)
Note: Days/times may be adjusted each semester. The final schedule is published under “Announcements” and “Calendar”.
Day 1 – Welcome & Initial Registration
- Welcome Desk: greeting and guidance
- Document check and initial registration steps
- Student card / student affairs guidance (if applicable)
- Office introduction: who does what, key contact points
Day 2 – Academic Setup & OLA
- Academic advising session: course matching principles
- OLA/EWP briefing: how to complete, approval flow, deadlines
- Add/Drop period guidance
- Academic recognition & transcript process (overview)
Day 3 – Campus Tour & Student Life
- Campus tour (library, cafeteria, sports and social areas)
- University email / student information systems briefing (if applicable)
- Health and counselling services introduction (if available)
- Safety and emergency guidance
Day 4 – City Integration (Kilis)
- City essentials: supermarkets, pharmacy, bank/ATM
- Transport tips and daily routines
- Living costs and budgeting tips
- Cultural adaptation: practical do’s and communication tips
Day 5 – Social Integration & Buddy Meeting
- Buddy System matching and first meet-up
- Student clubs/communities (if applicable)
- Social activity / city walk
- Q&A: most common first-week questions
4) Orientation Checklist (First 7 Days)
Make sure you complete:
- Accommodation confirmed (dorm/flat)
- Office registration & briefing completed
- Courses reviewed and OLA process started
- Add/Drop dates saved
- Campus and city essentials learned
- Contact channels saved (email/phone)
- Visa/residence need reviewed (if staying over 90 days)
