Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE)
Kilis 7 Aralık University holds the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for the 2021–2027 programme period. The ECHE is an endorsement by the European Commission that sets out fundamental principles and the minimum requirements for higher education institutions to participate in Erasmus+erasmus.uop.gr. By being an ECHE holder, our university commits to adhering to all the quality standards and obligations of the Erasmus+ Programme, ensuring a high-quality experience for all participants and partners. The Charter provides a quality assurance framework that guides how we manage and implement our international mobility and cooperation activities.
Under the ECHE, our university agrees to a number of key principles and commitments, including:
- Non-discrimination and inclusion: We uphold principles of equity, transparency, and inclusion in all Erasmus+ activities. All participants are offered fair and equal opportunities, and we actively support the inclusion of those with fewer opportunities wherever possibleerasmus.uop.gr.
- Academic recognition: We guarantee full automatic recognition of all credits earned by our students during their studies or training abroad. Each incoming or outgoing participant receives proper academic documentation (such as transcripts and diplomas supplements) to ensure their achievements abroad are acknowledged without delayerasmus.uop.gr.
- No tuition or fees for exchange students: Incoming Erasmus students are not charged any tuition, registration, examination, or library fees at our institution, in line with ECHE commitmentserasmus.uop.gr. We ensure that exchange students are treated as our own students, eliminating financial barriers to participation.
- Quality in mobility management: We strive to ensure high-quality mobility experiences through every stage – from preparation and orientation to monitoring and post-mobility supporterasmus.uop.gr. Learning agreements and staff mobility agreements are put in place and respected, mentoring and integration services are provided, and we evaluate the outcomes of each mobility to maintain standards.
- Digitalization initiatives: Our university actively implements Erasmus digital initiatives such as joining the Erasmus Without Paper network and adopting the European Student Card system. These tools reduce administrative burdens and improve the mobility experience by leveraging modern digital infrastructure.
- Environmental sustainability: In line with the “Green Erasmus” goals, we promote environmentally sustainable and responsible practices. Participants are encouraged and supported to use green travel options, and we raise awareness about sustainability in all mobility phaseserasmus.uop.gr.
- Active citizenship and civic engagement: We encourage our students and staff to engage in society as active citizens before, during, and after their mobility experienceserasmus.uop.gr. This includes promoting volunteering, community projects, or other forms of civic involvement, thereby amplifying the positive impact of Erasmus+ on social responsibility and intercultural understanding.

To fulfill them, we continuously update our course catalog and partnership information on our website, maintain transparent and fair selection processes, and provide robust student and staff support services. Our institution is also subject to monitoring and evaluation by the Erasmus+ National Agency and the European Commission, which we welcome as an opportunity to demonstrate our adherence to the Charter and to identify areas for further improvement.
